Pink Mist presents INTERLAKER
Interlaker is David Jakes (formerly of Lonely The Brave) and Jack Wrench (formerly of Arcane Roots). Jakes was the commanding voice behind the Lonely The Brave sound; a master of melody, his lyrical talents enthralled audiences across Europe from supporting Neil Young on mainland Europe, arenas with Biffy Clyro, to the main stage at Reading and Leeds festivals. A man who was always uncomfortable with being the centre of attention, as the band grew in reputation so did his issues with the constant attention and adoration, resulting in him leaving Lonely the Brave in March 2018.
Interlaker sees a return for Jakes on his terms, delivering the best of Lonely The Brave, but encapsulated within a sound for 2024; a new musical project, with a new musical partner in Jack Wrench. Jakes and Wrench – who only knew each other vaguely from their previous bands – brokered their new partnership on Instagram; exchanging casual messages, discovering a mutual love of REM and Pearl Jam, before progressing to swapping demos and song ideas, eventually writing and recording their brilliant debut album entirely online.
The sense of the unpredictable that courses through Interlaker’s album has also extended to an unlikely return to the live arena. Jakes and Wrench are both very conscious of avoiding the burnout that affects so many bands on long tours, meaning that, while Interlaker live shows might be relatively rare occasions, each and every one will be a true event. The band – augmented by live members including Wrench’s brother – made a triumphant live debut at London’s Omeara last year, followed up by their debut festival performance at 2000Trees, and a short run of UK headline shows in September.
Interlaker's self-titled debut album is out now via Hassle Records.
