Empowered and revolutionary, Fabiana Cantilo is Argentina's rock national treasure, a fundamental part of Argentina's rock history. She started her career singing in Buenos Aires’ rock bars, in the early 80s she was part of the Bay Biscuits, an all-female rock band who would open for the likes of Sumo and Los Redondos. During this time, Charly Garcia invited them to play with the supergroup Serú Girán at the Teatro Coliseo.
In 1982, Fabiana alongside Pipo Cipolatti and Daniel Melingo formed the band Los Twist, this was the first time a female artist would front one of the leading bands in Argentina. They played in local rock venues alongside bands including Soda Stereo and Virus. This was followed by collaborations with Charly Garcia and Fito Paez, and in 1985, Fabiana Cantilo releases her debut album “Detectives” which features Richard Coleman, Fernando Samalea and Oscar Mediavilla amongst others.
It wasn’t until “Algo Mejor”, her third album, that established Cantilo as one of the great recording artists in Argentina. Her song “Mi Enfermedad’ is a huge hit and is sung as an anthem at football games. She headlines at the legendary Estadio Obras, consolidating her as one of the most important rock and pop artists in Latin America.
Fabiana Cantilo has recorded a total of 16 solo albums selling over 6 million copies, received multiple awards, worked with artists including Andrés Calamaro, Charly Garcia, Fito Paez and Gustavo Cerati amongst others. Her creativity has no limits, aside of music she has dedicated her time with art, sculpture, painting, and recently published 'Desvio', her first book of poems. Fabiana has recently written and starred in the film 'Lagrimas de Fuego', directed by Gabriel Grieco and soon to be released.
Fabi Cantilo is also to be immortalised in the Netflix series 'El Amor Despues del Amor'. Her character was played by Micaela Riera, and the series is about the life of Fito Páez, with whom she recently performed with at Estadio Obras in Buenos Aires.
